The short version

An uncovered deck is a summer asset.

Add a roof, a heat source and the right orientation and the same square footage becomes a three-season room. That is the single highest-return change most outdoor spaces around here can make.

The structure is the serious part: tying a new roof into an existing gable properly, carrying the load on posts set to frost depth, and making sure snow sheds somewhere other than your doorway.

The first walk-through is how we both decide whether we are the right fit. You get straight answers either way.

What's included

What youactually get.

01

Structural roof tie-in

Connected into the existing roof properly, with flashing detailed so the junction never becomes a leak.

02

Engineered posts and beams

Sized for your snow load, carried on footings set to your frost depth.

03

Finished ceilings

Tongue-and-groove or exposed timber, so you are looking at a finished surface rather than framing.

04

Lighting, fans and heaters

Roughed in during framing — far cheaper than surface-mounting everything afterwards.

05

Snow shed planning

Pitch and panel chosen so snow lands where you want it, not on a walkway or a parking pad.

06

Screens and shade options

Retractable screens, louvre panels and privacy walls where the exposure calls for it.

Why Bugle

Why hire usfor this.

Rough-in happens during framing

Lighting, fans and heaters are cheap to plan for and expensive to retrofit. We ask before the structure closes up.

The tie-in is detailed properly

Where a new roof meets an old one is where covers fail. Flashing and drainage get designed, not improvised.

Orientation before aesthetics

Where the afternoon sun lands and where the wind comes from decide the layout first.

Highly recommend Bugle Construction! We had a portion of our large asphalt driveway replaced with exposed aggregate concrete. Tyler D. met with us, understood our goals and design ideas and provided us with an estimate. He was also a very responsive point pe…

I recently worked with Bugle on a covered deck addition to my property. Everyone is stunned by the craftsmanship of the finished product. Pictures truly don't do it justice. Michael set up all the moving pieces for any subcontractors and was transparent and f…

Bugle Construction did a beautiful job with our timber wrap around covered porch, and window eyebrows. We couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out! They started the job in the middle of the winter months and had some zero degree days to deal with. They…

The money question

What decideswhat it costs.

We do not publish prices, because a number without your site behind it is a guess — and the ones you see advertised usually are. Here is what actually moves it, so you can judge any quote you get, ours included.

The site

Access, slope, soil and how far services have to run. Two identical builds on different lots are not the same price, and the difference is decided before anything is drawn.

Size and structure

Span, storeys and roof geometry drive the frame. A simple shape built well is almost always better value than a complicated one built to a budget.

Materials

The same deck in cedar, composite or full PVC covers a wide range. We price the options side by side so the trade-off is yours to make, not ours to assume.

Finish level

Where the money goes once the structure is done. This is the part you can move most, and the part we can phase if it helps.

Questionsworth asking.

Often yes — but the existing framing and footings have to carry the added load. We assess that first and tell you honestly if it needs reinforcing.
