Barndominiums
Barndominiums built across North Idaho — post-frame efficiency on the outside, a properly finished home on the inside.

The short version
A barndominium done badly is a shop with a bed in the corner. Done properly, you cannot tell from the living room that there is a workshop forty feet away.
That difference is one assembly: the wall between the two halves. Insulation, air sealing and sound rating decide whether the home side feels like a home. We build it as a full assembly, not a partition.

The first walk-through is how we both decide whether we are the right fit. You get straight answers either way.
What's included
Laminated columns on engineered footings — wide clear spans, dried in quickly, priced efficiently.
A full insulated and sound-rated wall between living and working space, so the shop can run without carrying through.
The living half is built and finished to the same standard as any custom home we put up.
Separate panel, dedicated circuits and heat so the working side is genuinely usable year-round.
Standing-seam and ribbed panel systems that shed snow, resist UV and need very little from you.
Timber detailing where people actually touch the building, so it reads as a home from the driveway.
Why Bugle
Plenty of builders can put up the shell. Finishing the residential side to real housing standard is the part that gets skipped.
Detailed at design stage, not patched afterwards. It is the difference between two buildings and one compromise.
Well, septic, power runs and winter access are line items with dates in our schedule from day one.
What customers say
“Highly recommend Bugle Construction! We had a portion of our large asphalt driveway replaced with exposed aggregate concrete. Tyler D. met with us, understood our goals and design ideas and provided us with an estimate. He was also a very responsive point pe…”
“I recently worked with Bugle on a covered deck addition to my property. Everyone is stunned by the craftsmanship of the finished product. Pictures truly don't do it justice. Michael set up all the moving pieces for any subcontractors and was transparent and f…”
“Bugle Construction did a beautiful job with our timber wrap around covered porch, and window eyebrows. We couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out! They started the job in the middle of the winter months and had some zero degree days to deal with. They…”

The money question
We do not publish prices, because a number without your site behind it is a guess — and the ones you see advertised usually are. Here is what actually moves it, so you can judge any quote you get, ours included.
Access, slope, soil and how far services have to run. Two identical builds on different lots are not the same price, and the difference is decided before anything is drawn.
Span, storeys and roof geometry drive the frame. A simple shape built well is almost always better value than a complicated one built to a budget.
The same deck in cedar, composite or full PVC covers a wide range. We price the options side by side so the trade-off is yours to make, not ours to assume.
Where the money goes once the structure is done. This is the part you can move most, and the part we can phase if it helps.
We walk it before anything is priced.

The estimate is yours either way.

Bugle is a builder, not a lender — but Jared Teel and Jason Kuettel are the two local loan officers our clients most often work with, and both are used to construction draws. Their details are published in full.

Barndominiums FAQs
A single structure combining finished living space with shop or storage space, usually post-frame. The quality difference between examples is almost entirely in the separating assembly and the interior finish.

Where we build
We work across the Inland Northwest from our office in Post Falls. If your property sits outside these communities, call us anyway — we will tell you honestly whether we are the right builder for it.

Tell us where the property is and what you have in mind. We will walk the site and come back with a real scope and a real number.
